ABOUT US
The Federation of Hazara Councils of Australia (FHCA) is a national community organisation committed to promoting inclusion, equality, human rights, social cohesion, and meaningful participation in Australia’s multicultural society.
We work nationally and internationally to strengthen community connections, support cultural diversity, and promote education, leadership, civic engagement, and collaboration across communities. We also contribute to the wellbeing and advancement of people of Afghanistan, including marginalised and underrepresented communities, through advocacy, dialogue, partnerships, and constructive engagement. Through our work in Australia and internationally, we seek to build stronger connections, promote mutual understanding, and contribute to a more inclusive, connected, and peaceful world.
Our Values
- Diversity, Inclusion and Social Cohesion: We promote the values of multiculturalism, equality, inclusion, mutual respect, and social cohesion, contributing to a diverse and harmonious Australia.
- International Cooperation and Partnerships: We foster constructive partnerships with governments, international institutions, civil society, community organisations, and other stakeholders to advance shared interests and strengthen dialogue and cooperation.
- Empowerment, Leadership and Knowledge: We promote education, leadership, capacity building, and knowledge exchange, supporting individuals and communities to participate meaningfully in civic, social, economic, and international affairs.
- Advocacy, Policy and Human Rights: We contribute to public policy and international dialogue through informed advocacy, research, and engagement, promoting human rights, equality, dignity, and inclusive governance.

Our core mission includes three pivotal elements:
1. Promoting Cultural Identity and Diversity
The Federation promotes awareness and appreciation of Hazara culture, heritage, language, and traditions, while embracing Australia’s multicultural character. We seek to ensure that cultural identity and diversity are valued as part of a shared Australian identity and that future generations can maintain their heritage while participating fully in Australian society.
2. Fostering Opportunity and Empowerment
The Federation supports equal opportunity, personal development, education, leadership, and civic participation. We seek to empower individuals to pursue their aspirations and contribute meaningfully to Australian society, guided by the principles of equality, dignity, freedom, and democratic participation.
3. Collective Representation and Engagement
The Federation provides a national platform for representing the interests and perspectives of Hazara Australians while contributing to broader discussions on social justice, human rights, inclusion, and community wellbeing. We engage constructively with governments, institutions, civil society, and communities in Australia and internationally.
4. Human Rights and International Engagement
The Federation is committed to advancing human rights, equality, dignity, and social justice. Through engagement with national and international institutions and forums, we seek to contribute constructively to global conversations on human rights, inclusion, and the protection of vulnerable communities. Our participation in international forums, including the United Nations and other multilateral platforms, reflects our commitment to these universal principles.

At FHCA, our purpose is to promote inclusion, equality, human rights, social cohesion, and meaningful participation in Australia’s multicultural society. We work to strengthen communities, create opportunities, respond to emerging needs, and foster constructive engagement across social, cultural, civic, and professional spheres.
FHCA engages with governments, community organisations, civil society, professional networks, academic institutions, the private sector, international organisations, and multicultural peak bodies. Through dialogue, advocacy, partnerships, and knowledge exchange, we seek to contribute to informed policy, stronger communities, and a more inclusive Australia.
Our work also extends to people of Afghanistan, including marginalised, underrepresented, and vulnerable communities, through constructive engagement on humanitarian, human rights, social, and development issues. We seek to build bridges between communities and institutions, promote mutual understanding, and contribute to a more peaceful, inclusive, and connected world.
